Fitness and You- No more Excuse
No More Excuses!
Do you find any and every excuse not to exercise? Would you rather do anything else like sit and talk to your friend or sort your socks or clean a comb? Here are a few ways to get you going and keep it going.
Change the name of the game- Replace any aerobically challenging household activity as a standard exercise routine. If it's something you have to do anyway like washing the car, dishes or clothes or cleaning the court yard or raking the garden. You'll meet two goals at go.
Do it to music -Sign up for classes in swing dancing or flamenco, folk, salsa or aerobics. All of them provide a terrific workout and a lot of fun. Or listen to music while you work out; your favorite tunes make the time go faster.
Watch the latest mystery / suspense movie on your DVD while you exercise. If the movie is a gripping one then you'll look forward to that next session to catch the next plot twist.
don't sweat it- Ending up in a damp T-shirt is not your idea of a workout, then try gentler forms of exercise such as yoga, tai chi, or callisthenic's.
Find a partner -Exercise is more fun when you do it with a friend. And on days when your motivation is low, you'll most probably stick with the program to avoid letting down your exercise pal.
Train with a professional- Its expenditure, to be sure, but a personal trainer will help you set goals, design a personalized fitness program, and vary your schedule to keep it challenging.
Join a club. Make fitness part of your social routine by joining a running, walking, hiking, biking, or tennis club.
