Are You Growing Good Corn?
Story Author Unknown, Commentary: Carol Dysart, M.Sc. Counseling

"There once was a farmer who grew award-winning corn. Each year he entered his corn in the state fair where it won a blue ribbon.

One year a newspaper reporter interviewed him and learned something interesting about how he grew it. The reporter discovered that the farmer shared his seed corn with his neighbors.

"How can you afford to share your best seed corn with your neighbors when they are entering corn in competition with yours each year?" the reporter asked.

"Why sir," said the farmer, "didn't you know? The wind picks up pollen from the ripening corn and swirls it from field to field. If my neighbors grow inferior corn, cross-pollination will steadily degrade the quality of my corn. If I am to grow good corn, I must help my neighbors grow good corn."

He is very much aware of the connectedness of life. His corn cannot improve unless his neighbor's corn also
improves.

So it is with our lives. Those who choose to live in peace must help their neighbors to live in peace. Those who
choose to live well must help others to live well, for the value of a life is measured by the lives it touches. And
those who choose to be happy must help others to find happiness, for the welfare of each is bound up with the
welfare of all.

The lesson for each of us is this: if we are to grow good corn, we must help our neighbors grow good corn."

As a Personality Style Expert, I ask you, how do you grow good relationships with the people in your life? How do you find out about the impact people with your style have on others.  How well do you know yourself - style-wise?  How do YOU approach the Problems, People, Pace, and Procedures of your life?  What type of  "cross polination" are you causing?  Does it have any negative effects on the others around you? (TIP: An over-use of the strengths of our our style actually is what creates our weaknesses.)

How do you respond when someone does things totally different than the way you would normally do it?  (And, as Dr. Phil would say, "How is that way working for you?")

As normal human beings, our favorite topic is ourself! And what most people are not aware of is the abundant resources and information contained in the simple personality profiling tools that anyone can take advantage of to  learn more about themselves. Successful people have a way to tap into these tools. They know how to adjust their own responses based upon who they are with. Therefore, they are confident they are sowing "good corn" and creating great relationships at the same time!

If you are interested, you can take the first step towards mastering the Art of People-Reading by taking your own profile.  In 10 minutes you can have immediate access to a 29 page report, ALL ABOUT YOU!  Think about the benefit it could have on your business and personal life just by knowing how to get the most from each other person you meet!
