Top Five Things You Can Do With Old CD's

Got a lot of old discs you don't know what to do with? Don't throw them away! They've got plenty of uses, from the practical to the creative and even the bizarre. Here are ten things you can do with old CD's and DVD's--instead of sending them to the landfill.
Recycle. Some facilities will recycle your used discs.
Try GreenDisk http://www.greendisk.com/default.html in the U.S. The Laundry http://www.thelaundry.biz/cds or cDVDs in the UK http://www.cdvds.co.uk/Recycle_CDs.html
Donate them to a worthy cause. Check out the SPCA's Discs for Dogs program in the U.S. http://www.DiscsForDogs.org/, as well as Charity CD's http://www.fundraising-ideas.org.uk/ and Focus on Blindness http://www.birminghamfocus.org.uk/html/display.php/id/419?PHPSESSID=b1d3... in the U.K.
Use them to scare away birds. The reflections scare away birds and other animals that typically feed on vegetables in your garden.
Make a mobile for the baby's crib. Tie string around the centre of several old CD's, and attach them to a wire frame. Hang the frame from a light fixture or a hook on the ceiling. Babies love the reflective surfaces, and you'll love getting such good use out of old discs.
Sell them. If you have used music CD's that you want to get rid of, try approaching a used music store to see if they'll buy them from you. Game stores will often buy used game discs and movies as well.
If you have a house full of unwanted CD's and DVD's, there are plenty of ways you can keep those discs from piling up, either at home or at the landfill.
