“Who can find a … woman [with a mother heart]? for her price is far above rubies. … She … worketh willingly with her hands. … With the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. … She stretcheth out her hand to the poor. … Strength and honour are her clothing. … She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness” (Prov. 31:10, 13, 16, 20, 25–27).

These words of wisdom are beyond our understanding!  We are all given gifts and one of them is to be born with the heart of a mother.  Those godly attributes are given to us before our birth.  To be a mother is one of the greatest gifts to have and with that gift also comes responsibility. We are given attributes others might lack and because of that they might not fully understand who we are.  It is okay to be different, otherwise life would be kind of tedious knowing what to expect all the time.

I recall a time in which my older sisters, being kids themselves, saw these little children on the streets that were lacking some clothes and food.  They took them into our home and began with such love to bathe them, clothe them, feed them and comb their hair.  By the time they were done, they looked so loved!  The circumstances, their lives they did not know, they didn’t ask; but they saw the need and acted upon their motherly instincts.

It is merely impossible to be at a grocery store and hear a child cry and not see women all around the store concerned for the welfare of such a child.  I believe that if we cultivate such gifts and serve children around us, even though we might not have children of our own, we will grow within us a great love and understanding for others.  We will serve with  compassion and make this world a better place all together!  I invite you to try this day to look at children around you and give them a smile, words of encouragement, etc.  We all can contribute to their happiness, whether we are teachers, cashiers, doctors, etc. I like a saying that says, “Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.”   Let us bring light to those little children around us and make this world a more pleasant place to live in, always remembering that we have within us a mother heart that we need to cultivate.
