SAUDI WOMEN FINALLY OBTAIN VOTING RIGHTS AS WOMEN’S INFORMATION NETWORK (WIN) ANNOUNCES LOS ANGELES SUMMIT TO SOLVE OTHER PRESSING ISSUES

Women who want to super network for personal and professional growth and who share a global vision for strengthening women and families are invited to a WIN Global Women’s Summit October 28 and 29 in Los Angeles.

LOS ANGELES, CA (September 27, 2011)  After seven events abroad, the eighth in a series of WIN Global Women’s Summits will be held in Los Angeles October 28 and October 29, 2011 at the Renaissance Los Angeles Airport Hotel at 9620 Airport Blvd., Los Angeles, California.  See www.GlobalWomensSummits.com  for information and tickets.

According to Women’s Information Network (WIN) Founder and CEO, Dr. Paula Fellingham, There is an awakening and a rising up of women around the world that’s moving faster and reaching further than anything ever experienced in history.”

The women of Saudi Arabia may have to wait another four years to actually cast their first votes, but the “Women of The WIN” are already making their voices heard through the Summits.

The agenda for October 28 features training women to break the glass ceiling through entrepreneurism.  Isn’t about time for women to take that on in earnest since 95% of American women influence all the buying decisions?  Don’t women just need a wake-up call and the resources to foster the change they’ve been hoping for?  Read more ...

New Facts on the Gender Gap from the World Bank

New Facts on the Gender Gap from the World Bank

The World Bank’s latest World Development Report, which focuses on gender equality around the world, offers some stark facts about how women and girls fare in developing countries despite decades of progress.

Wealth: Women represent 40% of the world’s labor force but hold just 1% of the world’s wealth.

Wages: Salaried women workers earn 62 cents for every $1 that men earn in Germany, 64 cents in India and about 80 cents in Mexico and Egypt. Women entrepreneurs fare far worse, earning 34 cents for every $1 men earn in Ethiopia and just 12 cents in Bangladesh relative to every $1 for men.

Mortality: Women and girls are more likely to die relative to men and boys in low and middle-income countries, with 3.9 million “missing” women and girls each year under the age of 60, the report says. At least 40% of those are never born, one-sixth die in infancy and a third in their reproductive years. The problem is worst in sub-Saharan Africa and countries hit by HIV/AIDS.

Education: Women now account for more than half the world’s university students, and 60 countries have more young women than men in universities. Primary-education disparities between boys and girls have closed in almost all nations. And in secondary education, girls now outnumber boys in 45 developing countries. But ethnicity combined with poverty can be a barrier: two-thirds of out-of-school girls around the world belong to ethnic minority groups. Read more ...

Jillian Michaels Interviews Rita Wilson on Her Career and Her Family

Jillian spent time with actress, producer, and writer Rita Wilson for an exclusive, intimate interview on getting started in acting, her proudest moments, and her big new gig, as editor-at-large for Huff/Post 50.

By Jillian Michaels for Everyday Health

Rita Wilson

Rita Wilson is a beloved gem of a woman who has managed a healthy, celebrated marriage for over 20 years in a town that loves to attack happiness. She’s a mom of four beautiful kids who all adore her. She’s a revered producer, celebrated actress on Broadway and the silver screen, dedicated philanthropist, accomplished writer who contributes to such power publications as Harper's Bazaar and the Huffington Post, where she's an editor-at-large. She wears so many hats it’s staggering, but the fact that she wears them all so well is what truly bowls me over. For all those reasons I have found her to be deeply impassioned, influential, and motivating, which is why I set my sights on interviewing her. Read more ...

Coming-up with Profitable PR Ideas

By Janette Burke - Canada's Six-Figure Marketing/PR Coach

You’re anxious to see your name in print, and to appear on radio and television. But before you put your publicity plan in motion or pick-up the phone and pitch an editor, broadcaster or producer, you should know a few more things about the PR process.

Doing your homework, understanding the basics and thinking creatively, is where it all begins.  In addition to being packaged and compiling a current list of media contacts and sources, you must come up with a list of clever ideas -- themes or angles that convey your marketing message and also relate to the needs of your target audiences, as well as to the needs of the publication’s readers, radio station’s listeners and TV show’s viewers you’re going after.

Make no mistake this process requires a great deal of time, effort and patience, but it doesn’t require any special training.  Sure some of us are naturally more inclined towards creative marketing and promotion, but the truth is anyone who tries to generate good PR ideas for his or her business can.  You just have to get your creative juices flowing.

If you’re finding that to be a difficult task, consider employing these measures: Read more ...

The WIN Global Women's Summit #4 was over-the-top SUPERB!

Sweet Friends,

The WIN Global Women's Summit in Bangalore, India, was absolutely incredible! I told Event Director Wanitha Ashok that she set a high standard of excellence. Like our other Event Directors, Wanitha "gave it her all" and did an amazing job. I'm deeply grateful to these leaders who prepare so well and present Global Women's Summits that attendees will remember forever. A big "thank you" from me and the entire WIN Team!

The Global Women's Summit Bangalore was held at the 5-star Aria Hotel where over 100 women met for a day of inspiration, wonderful dialoguing, a delicious meal, and fabulous entertainment. Each speaker shared valuable information, commented on women's issues in India, and shared possible solutions to the challenges women face there. I love it when speakers outline the problem but focus on solutions so participants leave the event with ideas about how to improve their lives and the lives of their loved ones.

I was especially impressed with the insight, wisdom, and creativity expressed by those who participated in the discussions of our 3 initiatives. Panelists' comments revealed their thoughtfulness, honesty, and sincere desires for positive change.
