How I've Grown A Facebook Community Of 4000 Fans

Building A Community On Facebook: Remember, you're not just a broadcaster.

Social Media is an essential tool for any online business, in fact I believe it's an essential tool for any business. Over the past 2 years, I've been growing a Facebook community, Natural Parenting Tips, I distinguish between page and community deliberately here, as many businesses have Facebook fan pages but haven't taken the extra time to develop an engaged, responsive, and powerful community.

I'd like to share with you how I've created such a vibrant little spot on Facebook so you can do the same for your business.

1 - Be Clear About Who Your Audience Is

Natural Parenting Tips is very clear on their target audience, we speak specifically to parents who subscribe to an attachment parenting model of care. We attract mothers who parent gently, and believe in holistic wellness care, extended breastfeeding, bedsharing, and home-schooling. 

It's a narrow and clearly defined niche, but this means that we can communicate in the voice that our audience expects of us.

2 - Define Your Mission

The reason you define your mission is so your community can get involved in spreading the word for you! Natural Parenting Tips is there to support mothers to raise "Little Humans" offering a safe place to talk about alternative parenting strategies.

What has  transpired from our clearly defined mission is a community of like minded mothers who all engage not only with Natural Parenting Tips, but with each other! If one mother poses a question, the community get involved in answering her queries.

3 - Encourage Participation!

One of the most amazing points in our Fanpage journey was when I first posed a user question. A friend of mind had approached me for advice, I felt I was ill qualified to answer, so thought I would post the question on the Facebook Page. Read more ...
