The WIN NZ

Meeting 2 Sept 2011

The meeting was attended by Dee Petit of Sassy Red Ltd, Grace Haden of Verisure Ltd, Helen McCann of Centric Coaching Plus Ltd., Jenny Wilmshurst of Tweet Twins, Lee Solon of Aegility Ltd and Roberta Budvietas of Budvietas.com Ltd.

After we all introduced ourselves, we discussed what we would like to see happen next. We still want to discuss further the 3 questions raised at the Global Women’s Summit at Kia Aroha College on 6th August 2011.

The questions were: How can we…

  1.  Acknowledge similarities and respect differences?
  2.  Strengthen women’s roles for increased peace and development in communities, nations, and the world?
  3. Live in dignity and contribute to the well-being of women and families in communities, nations, and the world?

A number of matters were raised during the meeting and a suggestion was made that we meet for a day of brainstorming on either the 20th Sept or 4th Oct. Dee has offered her place in Waiuku.

The purpose of the day is to

A.    Develop purpose, vision, values and structure for NZ group

B.     Identify how we align and work with existing organisations rather than just creating another one

C.     Identify what would make us unique. Some suggestions around this were: Read more ...

Moral Imperatives difference with the different generations

This morning in my normal blog I wrote about a lesson learned this weekend. You can join that discussion here - http://www.getoutofstuck.net/?p=3708

Moral imperatives like should and ought have been a huge part of my life and only in learning to overcome those impertaives have I been able to Get out of Stuck and Excel. When you recognise that you are saying I should do something and you choose to ask why, you take control of both your thoughts and actions.

But what happens with Gen Y's who have been brought up to believe that all things are possible. That failure does not happen. How do they learn to deal with life and the fact that failure does exist. That for jobs, houses, partners, careeers, places at university etc, they can miss out. How do they handle that?

Is the new moral imperative around if you miss out, you are a failure, a loser?

What is happening with Gen Y?

Has the moral imperative shifted?

Global Women's Summit - I am Woman, Hear me Roar

On the 6th of August in Auckland New Zealand I had the privilege to meet with women (and men) who are committed to listen, learn and share.  Dr Paula Fellingham of the WIN worked with the women present to create a contact and build an environment where sharing happened.

The Summit was held at a school that proves that when family and community come together it is possible to create an environment where learning can happen. Kia ArohaSchool is a school that brings together children from Pacifica to study in an environment that rivals schools in richer areas of the city. The school proves that when given the opportunity and respect, parents and children can achieve and succeed. Ann Milnethe principal of the school was definitely one of the Award winners of the Summit because Ann has worked tirelessly for many years against government departments and experts to create an environment of learning.

Our event opened with a Pōwhiri. The experience was a new one for many of our attendees, particularly my husband Peter who landed up responding to the greeting and explaining why we had come. A Pōwhiri is aMāori welcome on to a marae, a way for the hosts (tangata whenua) to formally greet a group of visitors (manuhiri).

Following the Pōwhiri, the attendees were entertained by a presentation of Maori dances and songs.

Dr Paula Fellingham then addressed the women present and led them through the mission of the powerful forces for good and highly successful entrepreneurs in the 21st century.

1.      BELIEVE in our gifts and talents, and use them to create a better world.

2.      RELINQUISH negativity and build personal power. Read more ...

A Prayer following the Global Woman's Summit Auckland 6th August 2011

Jeremiah 29:11 "for I know the plans I have for YOU, declares the LORD

"Never give the devil a ride, he will want to take over the driving."

Dear Woman of God

Be still for a while and praise God for His favor, His grace and His awesomeness

God is able to do the impossible and is always near He loves us unconditionally.

Together, let's get 1000 ladies to praise Him with one voice in this next hour.

Please forward this to every woman you want God to Bless

Dear God: this is my friend, whom I love and this is my prayer for her

Help her live her life to the fullest.

Please promote her and cause her to excel above her expectations.

Help her to shine in the darkest places where it is impossible to love.

Protect her at all times, lift her up when she needs You the most, and let her know when she walks with You,

She will always be safe.

Love you Girl!

This prayer was sent to me by one of the wonderful women who attended the Global Women's Summit with Dr Paula Fellingham in Auckland New Zealand. Blessings to one and all

The Future of Education?

Once upon a time we were told that if we got an education, we would have a job for life.

Then we were told that we would need to retrain to get a job

But now we are told that only 10% of all people are needed to work to meet needs and the rest are working to meet wants.

So the question today - what is the purpose of education?

I have explored this in several recent personal blogs on Get out of Stuck

But what do you think is the purpose of education and do you think the system we have serves our children and the community well?

Looking for people who are willing to talk about how they got out of stuck

I know several dynamic women who have great stories that relate to how they got out of stuck. If you are willing to answer the following questions

  1. Have you ever felt majorly stuck in your life?
  2. What did you do to get out of stuck?
  3. What do you do regularly to prevent yourself from getting stuck?
  4. How does what you are doing work?
  5. How can it help others

I would love to hear from you and arrange a time to interview you.

Blogging Educates You but…

Blogging in 2011 has been a real education and not in the way I thought it would be.

I read a lot of the experts in the field – Michele ScismSandi Krakowski the entireCopyblogger team to mention a few and I am confused.

The confusion comes around the value one gives in a blog. Read more ...

Anger can be managed by the 3 A’s

Last night just as I was drifting off to sleep, a loud, very angry person started shouting on the street, swearing and carrying on for about 10 minutes.

The anger was hot, spontaneous and quick. It was like a fever, out of control and raging and until it burnt out the only way to handle it was for the people around the angry person to accept that the angry person had a problem or a dis-ease. Until such time as the dis-ease passed, the angry person would not respond to the 3 A’s.

When the anger is that hot, be it from a scared parent, an irate buyer, an upset friend or any person who expected one thing and got something else, they do not hear the 3 A’s until the fever burns out. But they need acknowledgement and acceptance during the anger just like a child with a fever needs a cold cloth. Read more ...
