What Secrets Are You Hiding?

I have very belatedly in its lifespan become a fan of the TV program NCIS. I marvel at the far-reaching efforts of their 'investigative work'. They very easily and deeply probe into people's lives (be they victims or suspects).

They use complicated technology and nothing is sacred.

Shutting down my laptop the other evening, a macabre thought flittered through my mind, "I wonder what would be 'discovered' about me should something happen to me overnight."

What would my laptop reveal?

My bank records? My telephone records?

What would people report back about me?

NO - thisis not an exercise in paranoia concern about what people think about me, but rather how authentic am I living?

Do I still have things I'm possibly hiding? Do I still have secrets?

So - this week consider what the reasons are you hide things.

Does your life really look the way people think it does?

Are you really the person people think you are?

Why the need to pretend?

And how much effort is this taking from you?

Some interesting things for you to consider this Easter season.

Have a wonderful holiday season, Being Perfectly You.

Remodel Your Reality

As I read a question from a woman who is bored, doesn't know what to do and is reaching out for answers, I felt compelled to provide some inspiration and motivation with hope that she reads how I attained my "break through" year in 2010.  As I ended a 20 year career in law, it was a risk as I was very comfortable with my job, however, I had outgrown the job that once was a fascination for me.  What this message reveals is that we are always in a flux of change in our life.  When I speak to groups of women and/or coach others within my Compass coaching business, I encourage women to revisit their past.  Sometimes the answers will come from passions from childhood, however, with my experience, I revisited my college major which was communications and journalism.   Nothing in life is a coincidence and it was when I was asked to be a guest on a BlogTalkRadio Show, I discovered a passion as I went forward and created my show.  It has truly been a fulfilling experience in that it is so natural to me and am blessed with the abundance of exceptional guests on my show.  Now I"m evolving into multimedia work, speaking engagements and writing my book, as well as a contributing author.  It truly is never too late and I invite you to rediscover your Compass in life and you'll know how to redirect your focus in life and live the life you deserve!

Warmly,

Nancy Ferrari

Life Coaches Provide Help for Teens

Where are parents to turn to find help for their teens? When most people think of a teen that needs “help” they think about troubled teens. When they think about troubled teens they are thinking about the ones that have “serious” problems and have actually gotten into trouble at school or even with the law. If these are teens that have gotten into drugs or violence then it is best to seek out programs in your community that have the specialized skills to work with these issues.

There are a lot of other teens that need help that never get into actual “trouble”. They may be the girl that is seeking attention for the wrong reasons or the boy that isolates himself because he feels is socially awkward. These teens are just the kid down the street that may go unnoticed. In my experience working with teens and being the mom of two teenagers myself, I find that all teens are troubled by something. Although there may not be any outward signs that they need help. Where can a parent go to find help for their teen if they aren’t really in trouble but could just use some extra support and life-skills? Read more ...

Are you a forward focused driver?

rear view mirror showing a storm behind

What sort of driver are you?  When did you last have to really think about how you drive?  Learning and development researchers suggest there are four stages of developing competence in any skill:

  • Unconscious Incompetence
  • Conscious Incompetence
  • Conscious Competence
  • Unconscious Competence

The first stage relates to not knowing what you don't know - perhaps before your first driving lesson, you do not have any idea of the complexity of driving a car, checking mirrors, smooth transitions or cornering.  Conscious incompetence usually occurs during early stages of learning, and relates to the realisation that there is so much to learn.  Conscious competence results in careful awareness of the skills required to safely drive a car, but a sense of needing to consciously think about what needs to be done to move forward.  The final stage is one that most road users operate within, competence in driving without even thinking about driving.

If you relate driving to the momentum with which you move forward in life, which stage would you be in?  At the moment I feel I am in Conscious Competence - I know where I want to go, but I need to consciously navigate my way there.  I need to consciously commit to using the skills I have developed, and not just keep operating as I have always operated.  It is like making a shift from driving an automatic car - where I am not even thinking about the revolutions in the engine, or changing up a gear - to making the shift to a manual where I control the performance of the engine. Doing My Best...

Below you will find an excerpt from my new workbook which will be available for purchase starting November 1st. Please feel free to leave your comments or share your experiences below. I would love to hear from you.

Right now I want you to understand this about yourself and most other human beings – WE ALL ARE DOING THE BEST WE CAN FOR WHERE WE ARE AT IN ANY GIVEN MOMENT. So when you come across a recollection of yourself or someone else that causes emotional upset remember and say to yourself – I did the best I could for where I was at in that moment.

Another crucial thing to realize is YOU ARE ALWAYS EXACTLY WHERE YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE. Trust that every action, choice and happening has allowed you to become the person you are becoming. We are not born fully developed physically, emotionally or mentally.

Growth in all ways is a lifelong process. Given your exact set of life circumstances you made the best choices at the time, given the information you had which means there is no other place for you to be but right where you are.

Think about it – even if you made bad choices or reacted badly, could you have done better in that moment? Probably not so right now give yourself a break and forgive yourself.

Later on we will get to some simple ways to “get over” or clean up those feelings but let continue with this for now.

Are your choices holding you back from a happier life? If you answered YES contact me today. Make the first step toward a happier future – you deserve it! Read more ...
