Meet Laurie Johnson as she launches her new show Shedding skins, which is all about shedding old ideas and trying new ones, changing and growing, basically a metamorphosis.
Laurie is a very special kind of coach who offers sheds a different kind of light on painful situations. She has experienced some very extreme situations which provides her with a unique take on life and in her she she shares her story of shedding some skins of her own. The loss of her mother took her to a deeper level of self exploration. Coaching became a wonderful gift that came from her deep deep loss... "I feel my mum would be proud that I pursued something that would make me happy."
Laurie specializes in helping her clients work through loss. "Grief is subjective, because it can deal with any kind of loss...not just a loss of a person...but any kind of loss."
"For my first shows will be focusing on the loss of a loved one, and how the hell to try and survive such a devastating thing. I worked on the Cancer ward for 7 years and have seen some horrific things... dealt one-on-one with people who are dying, their loved ones, and the Health Care workers who have taken care of them. I also ask that my listeners bear with me because I am a natural comedienne and have a dark sense of humour."
My hope is that I do not offend anyone...and that I pull some happy memories out of the painful ones and then who knows?
....remember shedding skins is about stepping out of your skin and trying on a new one...... it's not always comfortable, but it's often necessary for growth...
