This Russian folktale about a potter and Tzar Ivan the Terrible is a wonderfully humerous story about a little guy getting help from the big guy!! Not often a theme in folktales. This version is from the book The Magic Ring: Russian Folk Tales, From Alexander Afanasiev's Collection. I adapted it slightly for ease of telling. My telling partner here is Bob Sterry who is also performer in his own right and happens to be my husband as well!

If you have older children this will be a perfect story for them! I would love to hear what they think of it.
