A Raye of Sunshine
A Raye of Sunshine
Sylvia Raye is passion, glamour, talent and joy but more than this, she is a woman who knew what true love means. This is her extraordinary story.
A warning - get a box of tissues because Sylvia Raye will touch your heart.
After 40 years in showbusiness, Sylvia retired to look after her husband who was diagnosed with a very rare fatal lung cancer. Her wish was to keep Mark at home so he could be close to his music room where he could record with his son Grant.
At Mark's request, Sylvia and Grant recorded two duets in their music room at home where they had a recording set-up. These two songs, When you Tell Me that you Love me and Through the Years, were to be played at Mark's funeral. Mark wanted his son Grant to tell all those in attendance the words were from him to Sylvia.
Sylvia and Mark had been married 36 years and she described their life as one big adventure, although she didn't return back to work as a performer when Mark passed away, she found herself recording an album with Mark's son Grant. Little did she know the adventure would still continue after Mark's death and the album would once again find her in the spotlight. Australia's number one broadcaster, Alan Jones, heard about Sylvia's Story and through his encouragement , the Album, Through The Years, came about. As Sylvia says, the adventure continues.
