Please Tell Me A Story An old folktale from Wales shares with us the value of being a good neighbor. This story is from a collection called Peace Tales by Margaret Read Macdonald. She has collected folktales from around the the world that are connected by the theme of how we treat each other. From tales of animals to Japanese pirates, from poignant to hilarious, these stories are marvelous ways to share with children the value of living peacefully together.
In fact, each time I tell one of these stories, I am reminded of the same thing! Because as we all know, grownups forget just like children forget!

The rabbit is too clever for all the animals in the story The Rabbit and The Well. When I tell this story to children they love it because the rabbit outsmarts the larger animals and he is so saucy!
But sometimes when I tell this story I wonder if there is another message...
Edward Lear born in 1812, 21st of 22 children! This small book, Nonses Songs is hilarious and brilliant. I don't remember reading him when I was a kid. The only title I remembered was The Owl and the Pussycat. But I thought that was a nursery rhyme. I had no idea that it was written by...
Stories - all over the world, people share stories and I love it when I find more sources for a story I am learning. I wonder how did the story spread and where was it told first,
I am always amazed because thru stories we are taught and it seems we are all taught the same kinds of things. We...
The children in this photo, marching happily in a train, pretending to be engines...grow up...into teenagers no less! And sometimes we forget that underneath those teenage eyes that love to give us 'the look', there still resides a little kid who loves to have fun, be silly, hear...
Frogs turning into princes give hope to us all!! Such hope is found in many fairy tales, that is one reason I like them so much. We gotta have hope!
This old tale of the Frog and the Prince delights kids of all ages, myself included. Take a few moments and enjoy this story with your family....
When we were kids, making forts anywhere we could in the house -under the table in the dining room, under the bed in my brother's room, in the basement, was somthing we loved to do. Into those spaces, we brought games, books, toys, snacks. We could keep ourselves busy...
It is so amazing to tell stories with children. They are ever ready to enter into the world of imagination and be part of the story! I learn so much from performing with children - they give me my best ideas. They are not saddled with the fear we adults seem to have of being judged and...
When I was a kid I loved going to my brother's Boy Scout Family barbecues because the scout master told STORIES! Ah the fun of sitting by the campfire on a chilly September evening and listening, snuggled up with my parents, siblings and friends. Then as we grew up....snuggling...

I was writing this morning to clear my head. It often needs clearing in the morning! Sometimes as I write, a little voice inside me starts letting me know that perhaps there might be a some little thing that I need to take care of...some way I have been behaving perhaps that really is not...
Naseem Rakha is the author of The Crying Tree. I wanted to put her web site up here because her words stay in my mind.

I can't help but agree that we all complicit.
I spent today at the zoo with a group of medically fragile children. These children are severly handicapped by 'normal' standards. They cannot speak, eat, move on their own. It was an amazing experience. I don't know what they can understand or perceive as they have no way to...
