This week I am so excited to share with you one of the most amazing women I have ever met. Her name is Jan Latta and she is a children's author and wild life photographer. Her website is http://www.truetolifebooks.com.au/

If you are anything like me you will be transfixed to her website for hours.

This is a truly exciting interview. Enjoy.

Children's author's dangerous obsession

Jan Latta risks her life to save endangered animals

Children's author and wildlife photographer, Jan Latta constantly puts her life in danger when she's doing the research for her next book. She has been charged by a 6 tonne elephant, been stranded in a herd of buffalos, and drifted in a canoe dangerously close to a pod of hippos.

Latta says her passion for saving endangered animals started when she came face-to-face with a mountain gorilla in Rwanda in 1994. "I was devastated to learn that there were only 600 of these magnificent creatures left in the world. That's when I decided to publish books on endangered animals for children."

She is now the author of 12 True To Life books on endangered animals and her passion for saving them has taken her into the wilds of Africa, India, Borneo and China.

"In Africa I live in a tent with no running water and wild animals can walk through the camp." Despite the dangers, Latta says, "It's a great privilege to be able to photograph endangered animals in the wild, then write their stories."
