Wisdom From The Still Room
“Stillrooms were found in most manor houses, castles and large establishments dating back to at least medieval times. A stillroom was given its name because the room (considered one of the most important rooms of the house) contained a still tomake medicinal “waters” of all kinds. The women of the house were in charge of the room-- it was where medicines, cosmetics, home cleaning products and fermented beverages were made, often with herbs processed from the garden and surrounding area. Historically, a stillroom book was "simply a notebook in which health, healing, and medicinal information were recorded.” –Excerpt from the article“Wisdom from the Still Room, Herb Quarterly, Winter 2009, by Barbara Macpherson

Don’t let the knowledge die with you. It need not be fancy, just begin. Let it be a record of things you have made, will make or desire to learn. Write your own notes; let your handwriting be a part of the history. Let go of any criticisms or need for perfection. Come listen and learn!
