What are your best tips for dealing with the recession?

Times are still tough. Share your thoughts about ways your family is coping with the recession. Are you doing anything differently than before?

You have the money, use it wisely!

I have realized that as a consumer I am more powerful than probably any other time.   Having said that, I make better choices about how to best get the most for my money.  I take advantage of coupons, 2 for 1 dinners, and do a lot of price comparing and researching the best prices for routine and non routine item.  The best way I found to price compare is through the free software dowload My Shopping Genie.  I routinely save money using it by buying from the person with the best price or asking our local companies if they price match.  Most do!   If you want a copy of the software you can download it at    www.myshoppinggenie.com/bevshops.

Awareness

I am doing a few things..

I am working on not participating in.. or accepting  the climate of fear that is all around us. I say no to that negativity.

Paying attention to what I am doing with my money...yes to no credit card debt!

Claiming my own gifts as a speaker, performer in a way I never have before. Owning my power. Refusing to accept 'victim' thoughts when they pop into my head...which they do!

Finding  ways to help others- small though those ways may be. Everything from a smile and thank you to the person who changes my oil to a dollar to the homeless person I pass on the street.

I feel better and I believe when I feel better, I am more able to be who I am meant to be!

AS they say in the story: Pime Tasses! And things will change again!

Recession idea

Eliminate credit card debt and buy with cash.  It helped me and I hope it will help you.

All That You See Is Not Real

The recession is only as real as you BELIEVE IT to be. Each and every day we are given the most precious gift one can recieve and that is the "GIFT OF LIFE". When you are bombarded with the 24/7 doom and gloom pictures and messages your mind begins to process this as your reality. There is a saying "You are what you think".  If your reality is illness, lack, poverty, sadness,  suffering and anger than the recession is real in your world. If your reality is  health, abundance, wealth, happiness and peace then the recession has no place in your life. The only way that this can be a reality in life is when you understand that living each day to its fullest regardlesss of the situation is all about learning the many lessons life has to teach you through experiences some times good and sometimes not so good. Change the way you think and you can change your situation.

The recesssion

Refuse to participate!

Early in the recession I wrote a column about opting out. Most of it is still relevant.

Hang in there ....

Just because the tide is out doesn't mean their is less water in the sea! Be smart, be hopeful, be pro-active!

seems to affect everyone

The recession seems to be affecting everyone in some capacity.

While my husband and I are both working, we are still trying to live frugally. We would love to buy a home in the near future, and especially with the great tax incentives for first time home buyers, low interest rates and the incredible deals in real estate, it's never been a better time to buy!

However, with so many factors that could change quickly, we've decided to hold off on purchasing a home until the time is right for us, and not for the government. We are afraid that if we rush into our decision, that something could happen to make our financial circumstances change very quickly. So, we're waiting until things are more stable and timing is better for us.
