Laura and I are doing a show this week on favorite winter season traditions. We'd sure like your input. Tell us which part of the country you live in and who you typically experience this tradition with. Finally fill us in on the details of your favorite tradition.

Making Homemade Soups
I live in Denver CO.
I love winter because I get to create in the kitchen....I love taking things from the refridgerator and pantry and making a fabulous, tasty hot soup. Soups are my favorite thing in the winter..they are so healthy and soothing.
My kids don't eat my soups, they are only 4 and 5, but one day I look forward to creating some for them.
Holiday Tradition
On the night before Christmas, we gather at my sister's house in New York State and go caroling early in the evening. When we return, we cook an Italian seafood feast (an Italian tradition) with steamed clams, shrimp and scallops over pasta and homemade tomato sauce. Did I mention that none of us are Italian????
My family has a tradition of
My family has a tradition of having an all-comers Christmas Eve party at my mother's home. We cook loads of finger foods and spend time with people that we love, but aren't able to spend Christmas Day with. We always end up with co-workers, teenagers, friends from childhood along with family. It's the part of the holiday season that I most look forward to.
Holiday Traditions
What a fun idea Erin. We love that your Mother is willing to host and that this social is the part of the holiday season YOU most look forward to. Thanks for sharing!
Here are some other ideas submitted by WIN show hosts:
... the first weekend after Thanksgiving, turning on the Christmas carols, decorating the house and drinking egg nog with my wonderful, incredible husband. There's something about that simple, annual ritual that feels like flipping the "on" switch for joy that last through year end!! (a close second is drinking my first egg nog latte of the season when Starbucks switches over to their holiday cups :) --Manisha Thakor
...eating pigs in a blanket while decorating the tree! --Sandy Griffin
...I've got a house full of kids - and I've learned that my best holidays are when we kept things simple and just allowed the special moments to happen naturally. Sometimes you can get in such a rush that you don't have time to notice the special moments of wonder as you think about the reason for the holday. Just having a special scented candle burning can make the home feel festive - and that takes nothing out of your schedule! --Heather Johnson
Minnesota memories
One of my favorite holiday traditions is our annual trek to the tree farm to cut down our family's Christmas tree.
We bundle up to protect against the cold and snow, and go to the same tree farm year after year. We tromp through the snow, looking for the perfect tree.
Once it has been located, we all take turns sawing the tree trunk, until it is time to yell, "Timber!"
Then we tie it down securely, go to lunch, then come home and decorate the tree.
Nothing smells as wonderful as a fresh cut tree. . .
Minnesota traditions
Growing up in Minnesota I would have to say that the favorite winter traditions was making snow angels. As much as I hate the cold, do not miss the snow, I still remember the feeling of laying in the snow, flapping my arms and legs and voila! An angel!
Minnesoda Traditions
Sandy, I had forgotten about the fun my children had making snow angels. I will add your idea to our show blog. Thanks for the great reminder.
