I learned a few years ago that if 1) I take time to analyze the people I give gifts to and then 2) come up with a personalized gifts for them, it takes less time than if I go to the mall and wander around aimlessly looking for something that fits within my budget AND is a "good fit" for them. Gifts of service and gifts that are consumable are great options. They are more memorable and allow me to invest more of myself in the giving. That extra touch is usually noticed and appreciated!
