Turning 60 has definitely made me sit up and smell the roses. Mentally, I don't feel 60 but physically, there are definite changes. Starting Bikram Yoga to help me get in better physical shape has been a total adventure. If anyone tells you it is easy they are simply lying~!
Being in a 105 degree room with lots of humidity takes the wind right our of your sails. My dear friend went with me the first month - but that first night we are laying on our backs and sweating like no tomorrow - and she looks at me and says: "What Have You Gotten Us In To?"
All I could do is lay there and ponder this - finally I responded: "Well, if we were ever stranded in the desert we wouldn't die!" She being the elder of us, just simply shook her head! We couldn't even smile after that exchange.
And if any of you have been involved in Bikram Yoga you already know that you aren't supposed to talk during the 90 minutes of torture! :-)
Being involved with women on the move, looking for their purpose, fulfilling their purpose, brainstorming and talking frankly about the changes in their personal selves, in their communities and cities and even in the country is so very powerful! Being with like minded individuals just gives you the boost you need.
I am a Breast Cancer Survivor - had over a year of chemo. This was one mind boggling, mental and physical experience that was horrendous. But throughout the entire time, I knew that I was learning what strength I really possessed - I was taxed to the limit - and yet I came out swinging.
I encourage each of you to fulfill your dreams, your destiny's, your passions.
