Why Sensory Awakening is so important
I just listened to a fabulous interview with one of my favorite 'Sheroes' - Jean Houston, (here's the interview) answering the question 'what do we now need to do as women during these times of massive change and opportunity?'. She said that as women we have a lot more access to the realms of wisdom within because it's not so 'culturalized' out of us. Now, more than ever, it's time to tap into that wisdom and come together in teaching and learning communities, she says. We need to rekindle the imagination and our sense of creativity.
Where to start? It begins within with the activation of the inner and outer senses, she says. As the outer senses become more refined and acute, we become more responsive and activated to be able to pick up more information in subtle ways. We then have access to inner images, so when we drop ideas into that space, they come to life. This is the foundation of creativity, and becoming what she calls 'Artists of the possible'. The many luminaries and geniuses she has studied all had a very acute ability to tap into the senses in this way.
Sensory awakening is such a deep passion of mine (it's what my website and radio show is all about! www.senssoma.com) and so I'm curious to hear from you and how you tap into that wisdom? How do you nurture your creativity in yourself and others?
