Thanks to Desiree and Alexis for requesting this show topic. Our guest, Stephanie, has fine-tuned the art of clothing organization and storage--and passing these clothes along from child to child!  Her tips include the suggestion that you REGULARLY sort through each child's clothing so that it does not become too overwhelming. Listen in as she talks about her experiences as she was raised in a large family and as she is now the Mom In Charge.

How well do you handle those difficult conversations with your spouse, employer, ex-spouse, or in-laws that are necessary but very uncomfortable? Do you often come away from these important conversations wishing you had been able to carry them off without someone's feelings (your own included) being hurt? Listen to show number 032 Organize your Difficult Conversations where Vicki and Laura outline the process of planning for and maneuvering these important conversations without emotions sidetracking the conversation outcome. For additional information including highlights of the two relationship enhancing books recently read by Vicki and mentioned in the show, visit Vicki's website at www.OrganizingMindOverMatter.com/blog and look for the posting dated 1 March 2010 titled Organize your Difficult Conversations.

Do you spend time worrying about which documents are important to keep and where and how to organize those important documents? Listen to show 031 as Vicki and Laura share with you a step by step plan to gather and store YOUR most important papers. Below are a few of the many vital records we address in show #031:

  • Will
  • Power of attorney
  • Living will
  • Birth certificate
  • Passport
  • Immunization record
  • Funeral Arrangements &
  • Contact Information for your attorney, accountant, insurance agents, etc.

This is, in our opinion, a VERY important topic. These important papers need to be oganized and stored so you know 1) they are updated and in good order and 2) exactly where they are located . To gather even more detailed information, visit Vicki's website at www.OrganizingMindOverMatter.com/blog and look for the posting dated 25 February 2010.

Somewhere along the way of womandom, we have accepted the non-truth that it is more important to care for others before caring for ourselves. If you look at that rationally, it is easy to see that it will only work in the short-run. For us to be fully functional, fully compassionate, and fully contributing--on a long-term basis--we need to be fully nurtured. Taking care of our own physical, spiritual, emotional and social needs is critical to our health and strength. Just as a car cannot run well without fuel, oil and working parts, neither can we keep running without recharging our batteries and filling our tanks. Show #30 will help you get started!

According to Peter Walsh, a well known PO, a garage is the equivalent of the modern-day elephant burial ground. It is a common place to put things you don't have space for in the rest of the house. We often close the door and just forget about the items stored there. Garage Organization is made easier with our simple organizing formula. Listen to show 029 to learn our SPARK formula for organizing your garage.
To gain further information about how to organize your garage, basement, and attic and to see pictures of a few favorite garage organizing products, visit Vicki's website and look for her post titled Garage Organization dated 1 February 2010.

Laura and Vicki have some great tips and resources to help you know how to make decisions on what to keep, what to let go, and what to do with what you no longer need.

Whether it is too much paper, too many clothes or toys, or all those items of memorabilia, if you have more "stuff" than your space will allow, it is clutter. Or, if it is piles and boxes of items you just haven't been able to decide what to do with, these also become clutter.

Learn how to focus on the items you have, one at a time, and to make decisions on what is worthwhile to you and your family! You'll be so glad you did! For more information on dealing with clutter, you can also visit Laura's website.

Christmas traditons

One of our favorite traditions is decorating gingerbread houses.  Every year the day after Thanksgiving 11 of my grandchildren and their mothers, get together at my house and decorate gingerbread houses that are cut from masonite and used year after year.  We have had alot of fun and have had some really unique houses.

Christmas traditions

Years ago I made a large nativity set out of ceramics.  It has become a tradition for us to put it up on Christmas eve every year.  The Nativity is large enough to fill my 10 long foot mantle.  We read the nativity out of the Book of Luke and as each event happens, we add that character to the mantle.  The last thing is to light the snow covered lights that surround the mantle.  Then it's hot chocolate or cider and to bed.

Baby Clothes

I just watched you on the live WIN show.  I loved your tips.  I am a fairly organized person, but I would love to hear a show for all of us young moms dealing with the rotation of baby stuff and baby clothes.  I have 4 children under the age of 5: 3 boys and 1 girl.  Every season I spend DAYS pulling out hand me down clothes for the new season and new sizes for the reapidly growing babies.  Every time I do, I think that I have it finally organized so that it will be super easy the next time.  But the next time it still seems to take DAYS with clothes sorted and scattered everywhere.  I would especially love suggestions for this problem with limited space and funds.  Thanks so much.

Baby Clothes

I have to agree with Desiree.  I would love to listen to your advise on this topic also.
