BLOG 1 FOR WIN.
How exciting to be writing my 1st blog for WIN. It's the perfect time for a new beginning with 2011 literally coming around the corner. Did you like your 2010 journey? Many people didn't. My year began with financial challenges and ended with a health crisis. The middle wasn't too bad! I'm not a great believer in the saying, `No pain, no gain.' I think we can learn our lessons in life painlessly, even effortlessly, if we're open and willing to accept the tough times in a positive light. All in all, I'd have to say I managed very well this year. I didn't panic, I stayed positive and I trusted each process. Am I worn out now? Most definitely. But I hope I have benefited from what the year put me through. I would rather the lessons had come a bit easier but sometimes, we don't listen to the subtle warnings and we need a giant thwack on the head. As I look after myself and my health very well, I've had to dig around for understanding about my illness. It's not always an obvious message. Perhaps I try to do too much, be superwoman, be everything for everyone all the time. If I decide that's it, I can modify my behaviour in this area. Awareness offers the opportunity for positive change so it's always good.
What do you think your primary lesson was in 2010? Are you going to waste it or make use of it? Every 31st of January, I sit down for a few minutes during the day, take stock of the year ending and decide what I want for the one starting. I don't call my plans `resolutions' because I think the word has too much pressure attached. Why not call them intentions or goals instead? Only write a few so that they're achievable. Let go of what you didn't like in 2010, all hurts, disappointments and grudges, give thanks for all the gifts and blessings you received then open your mind and your heart to the future. Above all, let go of fear. Fear is crippling, debilitating and the killer of joy. My wish for each one of you is that you enter 2011 with a trusting heart full of positive anticipation for a great year - and that's precisely what you'll have. 2010 will become part of the past so no matter how difficult it was, let it go with love and start fresh.
Happy new year, everyone!
