I am Women 2011

Episode Number:
001
With:
Roberta Budvietas

At the Global Women's Summit in Auckland 2011, I started delivering a presentation based on Helen Reddy's song " I am Woman" This song was an anthem back then for many women but I think it represents a more important anthem today.

Helen sang about the fact that TOGETHER we can do so much more. TOGETHER we can bring our learnings from our pain and make the difference we want to see. Forty, fifty nearly sixty years on from the birth of the first Baby boomer, we are in a postition to fulfill our dreams and hopes.

When I look at my granddaughter I see her experiencing some of the same challenges I experienced as a child. How if we have progressed so far, fifty years on does my gradndaughter suffer the slings and arrows of bullying. We have such great awareness but thousands of children and adults are victims of bullying and today it is even more brutal with the cyber bullying possible.

I invite you today, to join the Global Women's Summit Movement or any other movement of women that is directed at saving the world. Women will help us hear but only if we all work together and STOP pulling each other down.

As Helen said:

" Oh yes, I am wise

But it's wisdom born of pain

Yes, I've paid the price

But look how much I gained

If I have to I can face anything

I am strong

I am invincible

I am women.

HEAR ME ROAR!

Together we can do anything.
