There used to be a belief that a child was an empty vessel, and it was the parents responsibility to fill this empty vessel with
• all their knowledge,
• wisdom,
• fears,
• expectations
• and disappointments
-- then when their job was done the child would be able to go out into the world and succeed.

There is now a strong body of evidence and research -- which I happen to agree with -- that our children arrive with
• their own identity,
• their own pre-destined program
and a parent is here to
• nurture their natural talents and personalities,
• protect them,
• provide an environment that supports them growing in the way they need to become who they already have decided to be.

To provide the environment that supports this is dependent on YOU the parent.
