We always hear people say, “You can’t run away from your problems. You have to face them.” Considering I wrote the book, Kiss Your Monsters Goodbye, I tend to agree. BUT interestingly enough I have discovered that sometimes running away from your monsters can be a good thing!

If you are running away consciously, CHOOSING to work through your issues and then coming back when you are stronger and ready to face them,  it may be exactly what you need.

Here is my story of ‘running away’ and how it has changed my life for the better:

For so many years I was doing the spiritual work and breaking through my limiting patterns but no matter what I did, I just always seemed to be stuck. Nothing seemed to flow. I couldn’t seem to get my head above water. I kept asking the universe for guidance. I kept getting signs that I was supposed to move from my hometown of Toronto, Canada. I resisted because I felt it would be running away.

A couple of years ago, I finally listened and started on my journey to move to California. When I immigrated down here almost 8 months ago, I set the intention that I would continue to have breakthroughs. Being separated from all the negative voices from back home, I finally had the peace to just be free and be me - authentically. Ever since then I have been kissing monsters on such deep and profound levels as I was no longer competing with my challenging environment.

I finally went back to Toronto for Canadian Thanksgiving and was delighted to discover that the changes I made since I had left, were permanent. None of the old patterns came creeping in and if they did, it was momentarily and I was able to release it quickly. I found myself able to handle everything that came my way with such love and peace as I had completely dealt with my monsters before I arrived.

What I have learned from this experience is that when we walk away from our monsters and do so with the conscious intent of healing, we can gain perspective from another angle as we are no longer stuck in the challenge or the pain. We can see it more clearly and the sting of our triggers dull, allowing us to release it on a deeper level.

So if you are going to run away, make sure you do so with the focus of giving yourself the space you need to heal, prosper and grow.

Love Cindy

P.S. Running away BTW does not mean you have to move to another  country like I did. It could mean simply removing yourself from a negative situation.

P.P.S. If you are stuck in your life or being held back by limiting beliefs, old habit or fears, I want you to know that you have the power inside you to make the changes you want in your life.

If I can conquer heart failure, sing on a damaged lung and be able to dance freely after 15 years of chronic pain and immobility, then YOU too can overcome your monsters. I am no different then you. You have everything you need within you to transform your challenges into a beautiful blessings.
